Talvin Hinton, of Bridgeport, has been sentenced to five years in prison and four years post-release monitoring following his plea, said DEA Bridgeport.
The incident took place on Sept. 23, 2017, when the Stratford Police Department responded to the report of a fatal overdose, the DEA said.
Following the woman's death, the DEA, along with the Stratford Police Department conducted an investigation into the woman's death.
During the investigation, agents learned that the victim had used heroin and fentanyl just prior to her death which had officially been ruled an overdose by the medical examiner's office, the DEA said.
Hinton was identified as the person who sold the victim the narcotics, just before her death, the DEA said.
Detectives recovered additional heroin folds and drug paraphernalia at the victim's home following her death.
Between the months of January and March of 2018, DEA Bridgeport conducted multiple controlled purchases of heroin from Hinton, the DEA said.
Hinton was arrested on federal drug trafficking charges to which he pleaded guilty to. DEA officials said Hinton has a lengthy previous narcotics sales history.
